DIKTIO's YOUTH SURVEY "YOU & EUROPE" AND THE JEAN MONNET PROJECT IDEA
A press conference was held on Monday June 26th at the Office of the EU Representation in Athens. DIKTIO for Reform in Greece and Europe presented the results of a Youth Survey and of the ongoing ERASMUS+ Jean Monnet Project IDEA.
The survey conducted in cooperation with the most popular music channel MAD TV. A web survey, 9-question Questionnaire was uploaded in their FB page targeting youth 16-25 years of age (sample size of 1.173) with the aim of eliciting views, beliefs and opinions on the EU. In addition, the broader context within wich the survey took place, the ERASMUS+ jean Monnet Project IDEA was presented and discussed in detail.
The aim of the project IDEA is to promote and enrich the understanding of the common roots Europeans share and strengthen the sense of belonging to the European family. The tool for reinforcing the common bonds that unite european citizens is to delve into and explore the Indo-european language and to understand the common roots of a plethora of words that we use in everyday life; those words especially that also relate to the benefits of being a member of the European family.
The Deputy Head of the EU's Athens Representation Office Mr. Aris Peroulakis coordinated the press Conference. He appraised the Project's importance and potential contribution for ennancing young greeks' european identity thrpugh "learn & play".
Mr. Yiannis Mastrogeorgiou DIKTIO's Director noted that the Survey's results clearly identify the areas where there is work to be done so that the country's youth will understand and realize all the benefits of European integration.
